Product info
Pregmate Menopause Test Strips are an affordable way to add hormone testing at home, without a lab visit or a reader device. The strips detect follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) in urine at a 25 mIU/mL threshold. FSH rises as estrogen production declines, which can happen during the menopause transition. An elevated result may reflect the hormonal changes of perimenopause or menopause.
FSH fluctuates, so a single result is only a snapshot. Each pack includes 10 individually sealed strips so you can test 2–3 times, about 5–7 days apart, and see a pattern instead of guessing from one result. Ships in discreet packaging. A single result can't confirm or rule out menopause. Even repeated elevated results don't diagnose it on their own, so share your results with your healthcare provider.
- Format: dip strip
- Hormone detected: FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone)
- Threshold: 25 mIU/mL
- Result time: 10 minutes (do not read after 15)
- Storage: room temperature, away from heat and moisture
When to test
Start testing when you notice changes such as irregular periods, hot flashes, night sweats, mood changes, or sleep problems. These are common signs of perimenopause, which can begin in your early 40s and sometimes earlier.
Test 2–3 times, about 5–7 days apart. FSH levels rise and fall, so a pattern across multiple tests tells you more than any single result. Avoid testing on days of heavy menstrual bleeding.
Testing tips
- Use first-morning urine. Unlike with ovulation tests, morning is best here, when FSH is most concentrated
- Limit fluids for 2–3 hours before testing to avoid diluting the sample
- Test at the same time of day so your results are easy to compare
- Hormonal medications, including birth control and hormone therapy, can affect FSH levels. Don't stop any medication without medical guidance

How to use menopause test strips
One result is a snapshot. A pattern tells you more.

Your FSH, test by test
Every scan is saved, so over a few weeks you can see whether your FSH stays elevated or changes from test to test.
How to read your result
How often should I test?
More than once. FSH levels rise and fall throughout your cycle, so a single test is just a snapshot. Test 2–3 times, about 5–7 days apart. If your results stay elevated across multiple tests, that may reflect ongoing hormonal changes worth discussing with your provider.
Does a positive result mean I'm in menopause?
Not on its own. An elevated result means your FSH is at or above 25 mIU/mL, which can happen during the menopause transition. This test is a screening tool and cannot diagnose menopause. If FSH stays elevated across 2–3 tests about a week apart, bring the results to your doctor.
Can I test while on birth control or HRT?
You can, but hormonal medications, including birth control pills, patches, rings, and hormone therapy, can change FSH levels. Your result may not reflect what your body is doing on its own. Don't stop or change any medication without talking to your doctor.
Can I still get pregnant during perimenopause?
Yes. Ovulation can still happen even when cycles are irregular. This test does not measure fertility and cannot tell you whether you can get pregnant. If you are not planning a pregnancy, keep using contraception until a healthcare provider confirms menopause.
My FSH was elevated once, then normal. What's going on?
This can be typical of early perimenopause, when FSH spikes one week and drops the next. Over time, FSH tends to stay elevated more consistently. That's why repeated testing tells you more than a one-time result.
